What’s the coldest? North Pole or South Pole

Many people around the world think North Pole is the coldest place on Earth but it’s actually the South Pole. If you have seen in movies people wearing those heavy clothes with gloves and hats to maintain the warmness so you have to see people in the South Pole although this is the coldest place in the whole world.

North Pole has registered -70ºC temperatures but South Pole has registered -89ºC temperatures this one was registered in July 21, 1983 at the Russian station Vostok, Antarctica with 3400 meters altitude. If you have wondered before why is the South Pole colder than the North Pole? The answer is simple; the South Pole is on a thick layer of ice which is on solid ground. What really happens with the North Pole consists in the thick layer of ice is over the sea which absorbs the heat thus temperature doesn’t drop too much while solid ground reflects the sunlight and contributes to make colder the South Pole.

Another scientific factor concerns to seasons, when it’s winter in the South Pole the sun is farther than the winter in the North Pole.
